--G Manny Fernandez started back-to-back games for the first time this year and notched his sixth straight victory Saturday night to go to 7-1-1 on the year. The Bruins have scored 32 goals in front of him during the winning streak. "They realize it's me ... they want to make sure sometimes it's going to be a little different than Timmy and they have to get accustomed to that," Fernandez said. "They've been getting more goals when I'm in for whatever reasons and playing well defensively at the same time."
--RW Michael Ryder was paid a lot of money by the Bruins to sign as a free agent, pulling in a three-year, $12 million contract. The last two games, playing on a new line, he has started to come through offensively, something the B's hoped he would recapture after a poor season in Montreal last year. He had two goals in Friday's win over the Islanders and two assists in Saturday night's victory over the Red Wings. He is a plus-5 in the two games.
--RW Phil Kessel, still only 21 and rumored to be traded more than once in his young career, is staying right where he is. Kessel has scored a goal in six of the last seven games and is 6-5-11 during a nine-game points streak.
--C David Krejci, another of the young Bruins who has been outstanding during this early season run, is 6-4-10 during a six-game points streak. He is also a plus-5 over the last two games.
--D Aaron Ward left Saturday night's game in the first period with a left leg injury and will be evaluated Sunday.
--G Tim Thomas was battling an undisclosed illness, which allowed Manny Fernandez to play back-to-back games for the first time this season.
--C Patrice Bergeron is hampered by an undisclosed injury which is limiting his ability to take faceoffs.
--LW Marco Sturm missed his sixth straight game with an upper body injury.
